Chinese New Year begins this year on 24th January 2020
Celebrating the Year of the Rat there are lots of events over the next two weeks including family crafts, dancing, art, spring fair and much more.
Dublin’s iconic Fruit and Vegetable Market will reopen for two days of music, colour and fun as the hugely popular Spring Festival Fair returns to welcome Chinese New Year in Dublin on 25th & 25th of January. Ahead of its redevelopment, the beautiful Victorian-era building will play host to a free, family-friendly celebration, based on traditional Chinese temple fairs.
Friday, January 31st is Dumpling Day. The tradition in China during the Chinese New Year is to make dumplings with all the family, from the very young to the very old and everyone gets stuck in.
On Saturday 1st, celebrate Chinese New Year with artist Renata Pekowska by making a textured decorative lantern in this drop-in workshop for families from 2-4pm in the ugh Lane Gallery or creat your own colourful dancing Dragon, Rat or Lion puppet during an art workshop for 7-10 year olds with artist Kimberly Griffith.
