The Airfield Estate Festival of Food aims to ‘inspire & enable people to make better food choices’. Located a 5-minute walk from the Balally (green line) Luas this a free admission event for our visitors. Meet the Maker On arrival, you will pass through the edible delights of Airfields entrance garden. Visitors can meander through the Irish artisan food producers village, feast on Airfield produce from the resident Smoker ‘Ernesto’ and meander through numerous street food vendors. Relax at Airfield’s pop up café and enjoy homemade treats. Attend a variety of cookery demonstrations and masterclasses with celebrity chefs. Participate in children’s dough making workshops from grinding of the grains & bringing home your dough to bake in your own oven. Backwoods Cooking The Food Festival will feature a Fulacht Fiadh open fire pit with live demonstrations from expedition chef Kieran Creevy, Wild Awake’s Lucy O’Hagan and Airfield Estate’s culinary lead Luke Matthews. Food Garden Join members of the Airfield Estate garden team on a garden tour. Learn more about the food history of Airfield Estate since 1894 to its current organic status. Immerse yourself in our edible food and ornamental gardens that provide an abundance of fruit and vegetables and greens all year round to Overends Kitchen Brewers and Distillers Meet Glendalough Gin distillers and the Porterhouse Brewers to learn about their produce and processes. Participate in a foraging walk hosted by Geraldine Kavanagh, botanical blender for Glendalough Gin. Relax in the rustic surroundings of our beverage & botanical zone. Meet the Farmer The Airfield Estate farmers will give a number of workshops related to their work on an urban productive farm. From milking to pasteurisation, a taste of our jersey milk and butter making, you will not be disappointed. Learn about the history of our pedigree jersey herd and all our livestock Family Fun Participate in music workshops or just sit back and enjoy the live music & food-related soapbox talks on live music stage.
