The 4th annual Kilkenny Christmas Tree Festival will run from Dec 9th to Dec 11th 2018 at St Canice's Cathedral, featuring Christmas trees of all kinds!
Some 120 trees of all shapes and sizes will fill the Cathedral and each one is a work of imagination and art.
Many local schools, businesses and organisations participate as will individuals. Tea, coffee and fruit punch will be served and a stall selling seasonal goodies will be a treat.
Workshops and gingerbread decorating are organised as part of the festival.

There is a wonderful civic, engaging atmosphere in the Cathedral during this very special festival. This is an annual event in the city and has become a Christmas experience that people cannot miss.

A stroll through the wonderful art work and creativity of our local community to view the trees in the magnificent setting of the Cathedral. Stop for refreshments from the 'Gourmet Monk' and stock up with a vast array of chutneys, jams, crafts and goodies at the Seasonal Stall. Great Christmas Hampers to be won in the raffle.

Friday 7th Opening of Festival 1pm. by Gerry Moran who no doubt wil have a witty take on Christmas Trees
6pm The Cathedral Junior Choristers will sing some beautiful Christmas Carols by the tree.
6.30pm St Canice's Cathedral Choir singing festive music.
Saturday 8th Open 10am -7pm.
11.30am Children's Hour: Interview with Ms Claus, Decorate a sparkly biscuit and taste it too. Meet Fionn our local Army Irish Wolfhound and pose for a photo by the tree.
3pm. Illustrated talk on the Cathedral Bell Tower with Ian McCullagh followed by a climb to the belfry (not normally open to public and included in festival entry.)
Sunday 9th Open 2-7pm
3pm The new Dean will introduce himself to Ms Claus and ask some of those questions all children want to know or come with your own question. Then decorate some cookies and colour some Christmas scenes.
4pm Music with local quartet Arreglos for more seasonal atmosphere.
Monday 10th - Wednesday 12th Open 10am - 7pm
Tuesday 11th 2.30pm Ian Sexton Organist and choirmaster in Kilkenny College will delight you with Christmas music on the Cathedral Organ.
