Following on from the sweet success of 2018’s festival, Westival (Westport Music & Arts Festival) returns for six days of merriment from Wednesday 23rd to Bank Holiday Monday 28th October. An electrifying mix of entertainment and art for all tastes is on the bill, with 62 events on this year’s schedule including art installations and exhibitions, music, theatre and other live performances and audience participation events taking place in many venues and streets of the award-winning town of Westport.
Speaking of the 2019 festival, Westival Director Conor Wilson says “Last year’s festival enthralled over 5,000 people over the 6 days of Westival. We set the bar high in terms of the caliber of acts and artists that we brought together, this year we have focused on building on last year’s success by putting together a broad line-up that we hope will captivate the interest of both local and visitor alike”
From the inimitable Paul Noonan (Bell X1) performing with Mayo native and Other Voices star Maria Kelly, to the magnetic Le Boom supported by local hip-hop artist and ‘One-to-Watch’ UPPBEAT, to the highly acclaimed Hypnotic Brass Ensemble from Chicago. Closer to home a 10 piece band featuring The Whileaways and Pauline Scanlon (Lumiere) are reimagining Leonard Cohen’s songbook in their show Bird On The Wire | The Songs Of Leonard Cohen; the 7.30pm show is sold out, a matinee 4.00pm show has been added due to demand!
